Sophie’s sunfish. She will defend Mola Mola. They aren’t colorful enough for me to defend, but I will learn about them.
Dana’s fish in sun. Test tiles came from the kiln and I love them. Pelegreeno and blue is most fish ready.
I made more fish yesterday and glazed some more today. I should be thinking of how to track fish but maybe later. I’ve been painting underglaze on reclaim bowls I find and decided to be more painterly with some of the underglaze on the fish. My earlier attempts to use underglaze on my fish haven’t been as loose as this one. I like the direction this is going.
You can find two sunfish in this photo.
And also in this one, as they have dorsal and pectoral fins instead of caudal fins.
I’m enjoying this process— the people I meet, how the fish change, how I explain the changes.
I also love pulling things from the reclaim because it feels like stealing, or how silly and inadvertently sexual throwing clay is, or how glazes interact and befuddle me. It’s all surprising and playful at the moment. It leads to beautiful things— like this bowl I gave to Emma.
We will end with a moody apple photo of this baddie.
