Super fish Sunday

Very good kiln haul today, have been waiting patiently.

Preparing mentally to have more grief this week and thinking again about how we culturally don’t mourn. I enjoyed driving to the studio and seeing a cars public display of remembrance.

Not everything’s grief and I spent some time at the studio realizing this was in fact a porcelain penis.

Listicle

things I like about the ceramics

  • reclaim buckets and thinking about what other people throw away

  • when other people eat in the studio

  • passionfruit across the street

  • good dancing windows

  • everything becomes an experiment like mixing mottled blue on top of Emily’s purple

  • creating new systems of organization

  • the way the light hits

  • what other people put on their shelves

  • other people’s pottery

24 more fish

Exploring underglazes and what it adds to the finished fish.

Decided to make test tiles to explore different combinations. What underglazes might appear better under a transparent glaze.

These fish will also become more experimental since they’ve already been bisqued.

I’m also preparing some with wax resist to see what fun can occur.

I think someone used wax resist to create the beautiful decoration on this vase. Truly a magnificent thing to see in the studio.
